Thompson, world renowned educational psychologist and expert on the raising of boys is coming to Stuttgart. Boys today are performing and faring worse in the classroom than ten years ago. They struggle between the demand for emotional silence and the need for healthy emotional expression. And as a group they are the most violent in the industrialized world. What's happening to our boys and what can we do to create schools, families and communities where boys can thrive? Dr. Thompson is a psychologist, school consultant, and author or coauthor of eight books, including the New York Times bestseller, "Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys". Other bestselling books include "Speaking of Boys: Answers to the Most-Asked Questions about Raising Sons" and "Best Friends, Worst Enemies: Understanding the Social Lives of Children”. His newest book, "It's a Boy! Understanding Your Son's Development from Birth to Eighteen” was recently published by Ballantine Books. A dedicated speaker and traveler, Dr. Thompson has spoken at or consulted to more than 500 schools in the U.S. and abroad. He has appeared on the Today Show, the Oprah Winfrey Show, ABC 20/20 and CBS 60 Minutes. He was the co-author, host and narrator of a two-hour PBS documentary entitled "Raising Cain: Focus on Boys" which aired in January of 2006.
