Despite the icy weather ISS grades 5 to 8 took to the streets on Wednesday 14th October and joined other Degerloch schools in a sponsored run to raise money for the Welthungerhilfe projects in support of schooling rather than child labour in developing countries. Around 1600 students took part in all and a total of over 8600 km were run! Other schools taking part included the Albschule, Filderschule, Fritz-Leonhardt-Realschule, Waldschule and Wilhelms-Gymnasium as well as the Sportschule Kiedaisch and 3 Kindergarten. Not all the results are in yet, but the organizers from each school are confident that the 13,000€ raised last year will be exceeded. Noch sind nicht ganz alle Lauf-Ergebnisse bestätigt, dennoch zeichnet sich bereits klar ab: Trotz des eiskalten Wetters es liefen ca. 1600 Schüler, Lehrer und Studenten aus 6 Degerlocher Schulen (Albschule, Filderschule, Fritz-Leonhardt-Realschule, International School of Stuttgart, Waldschule, Wilhelms-Gymnasium) sowie der Sportschule Kiedaisch und 3 Kindertagesstätten (Felix-Dahn, Waldorf, TUS-Sportkindergarten). Insgesamt wurden über 8600 km gelaufen - das reicht locker von Degerloch in die Projektländer, wo die Welthungerhilfe die Kilometergeld-Spenden (letztes Jahr waren es über 13.000€!) gegen Kinderarbeit und für Schulbildung einsetzen wird: "Stoppt Kinderarbeit - Schule ist der beste Arbeitsplatz" Thanks to Goran Markovic for leading the ISS organization and to Jens Knickmeier for the photos.
