BaSICS' accreditation
In September 2007, BaSICS was visited by representatives of the accreditation services CIS (Council of International Schools) and NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges). Members of staff, parents, children and the Head of School met with Margaret Alvarez and Leo Martin. We were measured against a thorough self evaluation report, which had been submitted in early August. The report presented the school in all aspects of its running: mission and philosophy, organization, safety, curriculum and teaching, finances, governance and student services.

We are absolutely thrilled to hear that the grades that were running at the point of the report (Kindergarten to 4th grade) were granted accredited status. Recommendations were made for further improvement and commendations were made about the quality of the educational provision in our school. Some quotations:

* “The curriculum is written and well documented. It is very clear and comprehensive and well accepted by the parents. They have also developed a dual language continuum for German and English.
* The staff and Head of the BaSICS school are truly on a mission. They are putting excellent thinking into practice
* A very warm, welcoming atmosphere permeates the BaSICS campus rendering it a nurturing learning environment. Professional collaboration is excellent and it is obvious that this is a student-centred campus. This was commented on most fervently by parents.
* The BaSICS campus offers a well-run dual language program for young learners in a pleasant, nurturing environment. It enjoys good facilities for the age level it serves and a highly professional staff who collaboratively work to support student needs and enhance the school’s programs. As a result, the Visitors have no hesitation in recommending that accreditation be extended to this campus. “

Congratulations to every member of the school community, children, parents and staff. All of our individual contributions make our school a special learning environment. This external recognition is a wonderful statement of the quality of our school.
