Grade 4’s current Unit of Inquiry is all about food an how it is processed. This gave us the opportunity in Art to think about our favorite foods and to create a picture about it. We started by using researching to find out how other artists have focused on food. One thing we noticed was how many people made pictures of food by painting it really big in the picture. Another point we saw was that many then also included other things that you might find on a table set ready for a meal, for example patterned table cloths, knives and forks, glasses for drinking or sauce bottles.
Whilst we were painting we experimented with painting over areas that had dried and using other tools to add effects to our paintings. After two weeks of work we were ready to be exhibited in the lower school and to share with all our school friends what our favorite foods are.
