language learning at ISS
 The main language of tuition at ISS is English. An English as an Additional Language programme supports students whose first language is not English to develop the communication skills needed to function comfortably in the classroom, both academically and socially.
Our Mother Tongue programme currently supports the continued development of our students' mother tongue languages in German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Hindi. German is formally taught as the host country language from grade 2, but is introduced at grade 1. Students select between French or Spanish from grade 5.
