International School of Stuttgart > learning at ISS > our support services > student assistance programme
The Student Assistance Programme (SAP) supports students, teachers, and parents in a variety of ways to provide students with a successful school experience. SAP supports students academically, emotionally, and/or socially from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Depending on individual needs, students receive support in the regular classroom, small groups, or on an individual basis. Individual education plans are developed as needed to promote academic growth. The SAP staff (school psychologist and learning support teacher) work in partnership to provide the following services: Consultation: collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to find effective solutions to behavioural or learning problems. Evaluation: Evaluate eligibility for special services (special education and gifted/talented). Assess academic skills and aptitude for learning. Determine mental health status. Intervention and Prevention: Counseling services focused on interpersonal or family issues that impact school performance. Provide training (individual, group, or classroom) in social skills areas. Promote tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of diversity within the school community. |
