Are you looking for a school that offers the opportunity to become bilingual? 
Welcome to ISS BaSICS. Founded in 2003, ISS BaSICS is a private school offering a dual language (English / German) programme to both globally-mobile and local internationally-minded families. The programme is unique in international schools in Germany and is designed to help native and non-native English and German speakers become bilingual and biliterate. Core curriculum content is covered in an English and German team-teaching environment. Research indicates that dual language teaching programmes are extremely effective in helping students learn additional languages well and provides astounding evidence that bilingual students outperform mono-lingual students in the long term (Thomas and Collier, 2004; Center for Applied Linguistics, 2005; Lindholm-Leary, 2000). ISS BaSICS currently offers classes from Junior Kindergarten (4 year olds) to 7th Grade and plans to expand to 10th Grade as demand dictates, after which students will transfer to Degerloch for the IB Diploma program. The school has classrooms in a self-contained wing of a building in the Sommerhofen Grundschule and in the Pfarrwiesen-Gymnasium in Sindelfingen and is able to make use of facilities in those schools such as the sports hall, cafeteria, music room and the playground area. |
